FDAImports.com recently helped a Chinese company obtain the first Green Ticket from FDA Import Alert #99-29, a sweeping and unshakeable Import Alert for Chinese protein products due to the presence of Melamine and/or Melamine Analogs.  This Import Alert traces back to 2007 when thousands of pets in the United States died due to the presence of Melamine in certain pet foods containing contaminated vegetable proteins.  Since FDA could not identify the specific manufacturers of the contaminated vegetable proteins, it created this countrywide Import Alert, leading to the automatic detention of every imported food shipment of these protein products, including Wheat Gluten, Rice Gluten, Rice Protein, Rice Protein Concentrate, Corn Gluten, Corn Gluten Meal, Corn Milled Protein, Soy Protein, Soy Gluten, Soy Meal and Mung Bean Protein.

The team at FDAImports.com knew well the challenge associated with the Melamine issue, including the fact that no Chinese company had yet received an exemption from Import Alert 99-29.  Indeed, since 2007, many companies have tried and failed to obtain an Import Alert 99-29 Green Ticket.  However, FDAImports.com was able to obtain Green Ticket status, exempting their client’s future shipments from automatic detention under this Import Alert.
