Benjamin L. England, founder and CEO at FDAImports.com, honored to be invited as a recognized expert in the field of Tilapia, will be speaking on the expert panel in the 10th International Tilapia Industry Development Forum (Venue: Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center, Date: November 6th, 2013). The China Aquatic Product Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA), together with the World Wildlife Foundation-China (WWF), organized the forum, which aims to promote the sustainable development of international tilapia trade and engage conversations among the Tilapia industry. The 10th International Tilapia Industry Development Forum is happening concurrently with the Dalian Seafood Show (Venue: Dalian World Expo Center, Date: November 5th -7th, 2013).

Mr. England will be presenting our findings on Tilapia refusals and how FDA import enforcement changes will affect Chinese seafood exporters. “Americans have a HUGE appetite for Tilapia; they consume close to 500 million pounds annually.” said Rick Quinn, Principal at FDAImports.com. “Importantly, 82% of these Tilapia are imported from China. It is vital that the Chinese seafood exporters step their seafood quality control system up to maintain and expand their presence in the U.S. market.” Mr. England echoed Mr. Quinn’s view and claimed, “One third of seafood consumed in the United States comes from China. FDA’s inspections of seafood will likely increase and tighten along with the newly proposed rules of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) implementation.” Mr. England also stated that it would be an interesting panel discussion on tilapia aquaculture production, since various influential organizations, including CAPPMA, WWF, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are also going be on the same table.

Members of the seafood industry, particularly those who handle Tilapia, should attend Mr. England’s presentation at the 10th International Tilapia Industry Development Forum.  In addition, Mr. England and Mr. Quinn, along with our team, will be participating at the Dalian Seafood Show.
