Mr. Benny Diaz is a regulatory consultant at FDAImports.com, concentrating on logistics and Customs & Border Protection (Customs) procedures and operations for U.S. and foreign importers and exporters. As President of World Import & International Trade Consultants in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, FL, Mr. Diaz has a wealth of experience in moving, clearing, declaring, distributing, and exporting goods into, out of, and throughout the United States.

Mr. Benny Diaz has over 20 years of experience in Customs, FDA and USDA issues, tariffs and regulations. He has proven himself in leadership roles for corporations and through his military experience. He has proven his abilities in problem solving on FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, FMC and Customs issues including the responsibility for import/export operations. He is skilled in freight consolidation, air and ocean transport, and has strong knowledge of customs, tariffs, carriers, rates, services, and routes. He has handled and even supervised all Import department functions, as well as data submission to Customs, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT and FMC.

Prior to establishing World Imports & International Trade Consultants and joining forces with FDAImports.com, Mr. Diaz was a Customs and logistics regulatory consultant for Rodriguez O'Donnell Ross Gonzalez Williams & England, P.C. Before beginning his work as a consultant Mr. Diaz worked for various customs brokers and freight forwarding operations (including J.P. Reynolds, Co., Danzas AEI, Inc., Expeditor International, Inc., & Seariders Logistics Services).

In these capacities, Mr. Diaz:

  • Acted as an Account Executive and Import Specialist with responsibilities covering freight forwarding operations and the coordination of shipments via ocean and air carriers from the all over the globe;
  • Was involved in all aspects of ocean and air import documentations
  • Organized full container movement and LCL to final destinations;
  • Performed coordination with LCL and FCL carriers for shippers and consignees;
  • Prepared and filed entry with appropriate tariffs with Customs;
  • Interfaced extensively with Customs, FDA,USDA, EPA, DOT and FMC on behalf of clients
  • Organized trucking operations for virtually all types of outgoing domestic freight.

Because of Mr. Diaz's extensive experiences in international transportation, import and export requirements FDAImports.com he regularly services clients' needs including:

  • All aspects of import and export issues pertaining to Buyers and Sellers and their responsibilities in foreign transactions;
  • Evaluating applicable EPA and Customs requirements, INCO-terms and the American Foreign Trade Definitions; US Government Export Control, The Export Administration regulations, the commerce control list and export licensing;
  • Evaluation and application of the Schedule B book and number, which is used to obtain the product classification under harmonized coding system in the U.S.;
  • Consulting on proper air waybill terms, conditions and functions;
  • Consulting on proper ocean bills of lading terms, conditions and functions
  • Calculations of ocean shipping charges to expedite custom clearance;
  • Advising on cargo containerization, Letters of credit (revocable/irrevocable, confirmed/advised, bank drafts (sight/time), etc.);
  • Advising on cargo insurance;
  • Managing direct Importations into the United States following Customs regulations and suggesting the customs brokers or bonding companies for the imported product.
  • Managing the entry process including properly directing shipments to foreign trade zones or bonded warehouses, obtaining duty drawback, and managing temporary importations;
  • Suggesting the correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes and performing product classifications;
  • Reviewing and assuring proper handling and payment of fees and duties, such as ad valorem/specific/compound duties or user fees, anti-dumping or countervailing duties, and marking.
